Hi Team!

Here is early access to the latest video. Hope you like it!

Yet another trip but didn’t end up as planned but still worth the effort.

After my “adventure” in Saskatchewan, I started looking at the weather. My initial thought was to head to Waterton Lakes National Park because I really haven’t shown any of that on video. More on that in a minute. But the reason I did not go was because they were expecting a fair amount of snow during the period of time I had available. So I started looking for weather. One of the trails I had intended to do in the spring was the Sunshine Coast Trail near Powell River British Columbia. This is a 180 km trek from Sarah Point to Saltery Bay that can be mostly a hut to hut trip if you put your days together properly.

Well, the weather looked pretty amazing, so I messaged my friend Scott and he flew in from Edmonton! We did not have the time or the weather window to do the entire trip so we decided to start near Powell River and head east which is the most scenic portion of the trip according to the trail association. As you will see, it’s very scenic when you get to the huts, but the forest is thick and dark in most other places and with the time of year making things chillier, those forest walks were not quite as enjoyable as they would be in the heat of the summer! We then found out that part of the trail was closed unexpectedly due to powerline work meeting we could not complete the trip as planned anyway.

I’ll leave it there for now and let you watch the video but I’m now back in Alberta and heading back to Waterton.

I think at this point I’ll do a couple of one nighters instead of the loop that I had looked at earlier in the year. That loop takes you into Glacier National Park in Montana, but given the daylight I have available and the weather window I have available, I think I’ll just highlight a couple of great one night trips instead and save that loop for another time. As I drive there and write this, I’m hoping that works out because when I called the park about reservations, they were quite surprised that anybody would want to be in the backcountry this time of year… 😂

I’m still working on the between the trailhead videos and I will have those to you soon for your feedback! I also have some things to discuss about next year as I’ve alluded to before. Keep an eye out for that as well!

Fingers crossed for Waterton and you’ll know as soon as I know how it turns out :-)

Thanks again for being here and for all of your support! Talk soon.
