HOWE’S THE HIKE?

In 2016, I wasn’t looking to build a brand; I was just a dad looking to share the outdoors with my twin daughters.

I picked up a camera to document those early memories, but I quickly realized that the ‘perfect’ hiking videos online didn’t always match the muddy, sweaty, difficult reality of the trail. I decided to show the real side of hiking—the fun, failures, fatigue and the moments of pure awe – all with the camera facing forward so you could see what I was seeing, as if you were there too.

Over the last decade, Howe’s The Hike? has evolved from multi-day family trips to expeditions in some of North America’s most remote wilderness. Along the way, I’ve navigated thousands of kilometres, tested hundreds of pieces of gear and built a community of like-minded explorers.

Today, my work goes beyond just hiking. As a Fellow of the Royal Canadian Geographical Society (FRCGS) and a founding member of the Canadian Backcountry Trails Preservation Society, my goal is to ensure these wild places remain wild. I believe that responsible recreation is the key to conservation. By teaching people how to hike safely and ethically, we protect the trails for the next generation.

Whether you’re here for the detailed trip videos, gear reviews, or just to see if I make it up the mountain—welcome to the team!
